COVID-19 Vaccination Hub

Vaccination against COVID-19 is now recommended for children aged 5 – 11 years.

Evidence shows vaccination offers excellent protection against COVID-19 in children. Even though COVID-19 in children is often milder than in adults, there’s strong evidence to support vaccinating children.

The Pfizer (Comirnaty) children’s vaccine is the approved COVID-19 vaccine for children aged 5 – 11 years in Australia. The dose is around 1/3 of the dose for people aged 12 years and older.

Children will receive two doses of the vaccine, given 8 weeks apart.

Walk-ins for paediatric vaccinations will not be available and an appointment must be made.

Bookings are planned to be available through the Department of Health call centre from early January.  Appointments will be made by calling 1800 675 398, 7 days a week, 8 am to 8 pm.

Bookings through the Department of Health online portal are not likely to be available until the end of January.

Priority child appointments will be available from the 10th January for staff to make a booking click here.
