VACCINATION HUB BULLETIN – FRIDAY 28 MAY

May 28, 2021

Hello and welcome to your latest Covid Vaccination Hub Bulletin.

The current COVID-19 outbreak in Victoria has generated a momentous surge in people seeking vaccinations at our hubs.

Yesterday we achieved record breaking numbers with 1571 people getting their vaccination at the Melbourne Showgrounds Hub and a massive 2021 people getting the #jabdone at our Sunshine site. A huge shout out to the incredible teams working at our Hubs and behind the scenes.  We appreciate each and every one of you!

In response to the recent spike in demand, our opening hours at the Sunshine and Showgrounds Hub have been extended. Refer to opening hours below.

Walk ins are accepted at both Hubs but with current demand, bookings are preferred for staff and eligible members of the community.  From today Friday 28 May 2021 all Victorians aged 40 years and older can get a COVID-19 vaccine. You can read the latest media statement here. People aged 40-49 years receiving the Pfizer vaccine must book an appointment by calling the Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 675 398 – and can do so now.

A reminder that unless you made a vaccination booking in the Timify system prior to 12 May, the only current way you can make a vaccination booking at our sites is to phone 1800 675 398, select option 1 and 1.

Thank-you for being patient when calling the booking hotline, as we understand they are also facing incredible demand this week.  Please note, we are unable to accept bookings via our Western Health switch.

All those who have received their first vaccine dose at Western Health sites will receive an email reminder to book for a second dose. A self-registration portal will soon  be released by the Department of Health to enable online bookings.

Being vaccinated is one of the best ways we can prevent and/or control COVID outbreaks, so take the opportunity now to get the the #jabdone, and encourage your friends and family to do the same.

For those who aren’t aware we launched a community facing vaccination information site to support community awareness and provide information about the location of our Sunshine and Showgrounds Vaccination Hubs, opening hours and the vaccination process. The site can be found at: https://covid-19vaccination.wh.org.au/ We urge you to share this link with colleagues, friends and families.  We are seeing increasing demand on this site too, with other 4500 new users yesterday alone!

Thank you for taking the time to keep up-to-date with all things vaccination by reading this Bulletin and accessing the Vaccination Hub microsite. Last week’s bulletin attracted nearly 1,000 readers and over 2,000 people have accessed the vaccination site over the past week.

Thanks to all of you as we move closer towards our goal of getting the #jabdone.

Regards,

Shane Crowe
Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery
