COVID BULLETIN – FEBRUARY 8

February 8, 2021

As many of you will be aware, the Victorian Department of Health announced late last night that a new case of COVID-19 has been detected in a hotel quarantine worker. The individual had been working as an Authorised Officer at the Holiday Inn at Melbourne Airport and returned a positive test yesterday. Western Health’s COVID leadership team is closely monitoring the evolving situation and we will continue to keep you updated.

This new case is particularly pertinent to us at Western Health because the related exposure sites identified so far are in our region. They include retail outlets in Maidstone, Sunshine and Taylors Lakes. Please monitor the department’s Case Locations and Outbreaks page for more details – and continue to check it daily as the list of potential exposure sites is frequently updated.

Western Health staff who have attended the listed exposure sites at the relevant times are advised NOT to attend work, and are urged to immediately contact the Staff Enquiries helpdesk on email whscovid-19staffclinicenquiries@wh.org.au. The opening hours of Sunshine Hospital’s Respiratory Assessment Clinic can be found on the microsite.

A reminder also that all Western Health staff are required to wear masks at all times when indoors at all Western Health premises (including administration areas). This is a requirement mandated by the Victorian Government.

Finally, please remember to continue to complete the attestation upon arrival at work for every shift. The attestation process is an important part of Western Health’s strategy for keeping staff, patients and visitors safe.

Thanks for keeping yourself updated.

Regards
