From kindergarten children to committed volunteers, community support is helping staff at Hazeldean Transition Care as they manage the outbreak in the facility.
Students at Home Road Kindergarten have created cards, pictures and presents which are now on display for every to enjoy at Hazeldean.
Jeff Garner, Acting Director of Nursing at Hazeldean said the activities team are sharing photos of the display with patients in isolation to bring a bit of cheer.
“This was a lovely and thoughtful surprise from the Home Road Kindergarten who we connected with last year,” Jeff said.
The Newport kindergarten did a series of Christmas concerts at Hazeldean in late 2019 and a series of further visits planned in 2020 have been put on hold.
Alison Lee, Activity Coordinator said the artworks and presents were “truly just what we needed to buoy our spirits!”
“I loved all the different mediums, and that it looks to be multiple sessions of work, we really appreciate the time and energy you and your students have invested in our budding friendship,” Alison wrote in an email to the kinder.
Our volunteers have also rallied to support Hazeldean staff at this difficult time through making handmade scrub bags.
“It’s great for the staff to feel the community support through what has perhaps been Hazeldean’s most challenging time of late,” said Jeff in a thank you to the volunteer team.
