Volunteers calling to connect community

August 25, 2021

Volunteers at Bacchus Marsh Hospital have made the local news for their work connecting with vulnerable members of the community who may be socially isolated or living alone.

Robert Russell (pictured) is one of the volunteers making regular social phone calls and providing a friendly chat to registered clients of the program.

The program is aimed at enhancing client’s confidence and wellbeing whilst increasing safety within the region.

The Moorabool Community Register has been operating in the Moorabool Shire for over 10 years. Originally funded by the Victoria Police and the Moorabool Council, the Register was established to contact  throughout the Shire. In early 2020 the Community Register was relocated from the umbrella of the Victoria Police to Djerriwarrh Health Services, now Western Health.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers for ensuring our community remains connected.
