COVID Vaccination Hub Update – 24 Aug 21

August 24, 2021

Dear colleagues,

It is fantastic to be able to share some exciting news with you this afternoon regarding a critical next step in our vaccination rollout program.

Premier Daniel Andrews has announced that from tomorrow (Wednesday), all 16-39 year old Victorians will be eligible for the Pfizer vaccine. From 7am tomorrow, 450,000 first-dose Pfizer appointments will open up across Victoria in state run vaccination centres.

This means that Victorians aged 16-59 years are now eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine, and anyone aged 18-59 is able to choose to receive either Pfizer or AstraZeneca. People aged 18-39 who’ve booked in for their first dose of AstraZeneca (AZ), will be offered Pfizer if they prefer. People aged 18-39 who are due for their second dose (having already had one AZ) will be offered AZ.

People aged 60 and over will continue to receive AstraZeneca.

The above advice applies to state vaccination centres only.

Pfizer COVID-19 appointments will be available by booking only via the online booking portal; or by calling 1800 675 398. No walk-ins will be accepted for the general population.

Staff right across the hubs we run in the western region of Melbourne are looking forward to supporting this exciting new step in the vaccination rollout.

Regards,

Shane Crowe
