Vaccination Hub Bulletin – Monday 23 August

August 23, 2021

Hello and welcome to your latest Covid Vaccination Hub Bulletin.

The Western Covid Vaccination Hub is the busiest in Victoria. In a major milestone, we have now administered over 500,000 vaccines to the community!

On 19 August, the Prime Minister announced that all people aged between 16 and 39 will be eligible for vaccination with the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine by end August. Subject to availability of the Pfizer vaccine, this announcement should see a significant increase in customers through our Vaccination sites in September.

Following the success of our Australian first drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination centre in Melton, we are scheduled to have a soft launch of a second drive-thru at the Wyndham Eagle Stadium on Wednesday, with the service officially opening on Thursday 26 August. This follows the opening of a new sit-down vaccination centre at the same site on Saturday 21 August.

Click here or on the image to view a short video on the drive-thru vaccination process.

Unfortunately at the moment we are no longer accepting walk-ins at our Hub centres for any vaccination due to the number of exposure sites in the West, to decrease queuing and promote social distancing as much as possible.

Click here to find out more about a temporary COVID-19 Vaccination pop up hub at Footscray Hospital starting today. Don’t delay, this is a limited time offer for 2 days only (Monday 23 August & Tuesday 24 August). This will be a Pfizer only COVID-19 vaccination hub for all healthcare workers regardless of age. Staff who have not yet received their vaccine will be eligible to receive their 1st dose of Pfizer. Staff who require their 2nd dose must be at least 42 days between Pfizer vaccinations.

From today, the Vaccination Hub will also be participating in a week-long blitz to vaccinate residential aged care workers and disability care workers who will get priority access at state vaccination centres across Victoria.

Finally, for Western Health staff, catch up on Vaccination Information, COVID restrictions and more by viewing the recording of the latest Webinar with CEO, Russell Harrison.
