Due to the locations of Footscray Hospital and Sunshine Hospital (including Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s) in the midst of identified high risk postcodes, ALL Western Health staff at these two sites are required to wear a surgical mask and face shield or other correct eye protection, from this evening Wednesday 1 July (unless clinical risk in your area requires you to use a higher tier of PPE).
This is for a time limited period only and will be reviewed. The decision is linked directly to the current higher risk nature of our site locations.
The requirement is for Tier 1 PPE to be worn by ALL staff in general areas including work and public areas of the hospitals and applies to those in clinical and non-clinical areas including while conducting work at a desk.
Tier 1 PPE consists of a surgical mask plus use full face shield OR surgical mask plus other correct eye protection.
